Medications

Antidepressant, antipsychotic and antianxiety medications are all used to reduce the symptoms of OCD. Each of these medications is each unique in its side effects, cost and safety profiles, however. Patients and prescribers alike need to stay abreast of current treatment recommendations.

Psychotherapy

Studies have shown that psychotherapy, also known as "talk therapy," can improve the symptoms if OCD. Therapy comes in many forms, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychoanalysis, group therapy, and combinations of each. Finding the one that works best for you may take some trial and error.
