Name:

Marc Berkowitz. He adopted his stage name "Summers" because of the media attention directed at "Summer of Sam" killer David Berkowitz.

Born:

November 1, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Family:

Marc Summers married Alice Filous in 1974. They have two children and live in California.

Education:

Attended North Central High School in Indianapolis.

Career:

Marc Summers' first professional writing job was on a 1970s game show called Truth or Consequences. He also warmed up studio audiences for TV shows like Benson, Soap, Star Search, Alice and Webster. He is probably best known for his work on Nickelodeon's Double Dare, which he began hosting in 1986. He has since hosted other programs, such as Lifetime's Our Home and Biggers & Summers and the Food Network's The Next Food Network Star and Unwrapped.

OCD:

Marc Summers has been vocal about his OCD symptoms, which include preoccupations with neatness and order. Ironically, many of the TV shows he has hosted have been especially messy ones. Despite a lifetime of symptoms, Marc did not realize that he had OCD until he interviewed Dr. Eric Hollander on Biggers & Summers. The two men later wrote a book about Marc's experiences with OCD called Everything in Its Place: My Trials and Triumphs with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Marc has spoken publicly about his OCD on Oprah and The Today Show, and he is a speaker for the Obsessive Compulsive Foundation.
